Last year we had an interesting discussion of the pros and cons of giving the max to certain players. Now that we have the end of the five year deals from the inagural draft combined with a new 4 year max and a new FA system overall, I think it

I'd put Melo in the "Crazy" category, personally. For that matter I'd say the same about Lawson -- nice player, probably worth $10-12M, I can't see any reasonably justification for a max contract.

I've decided to reintroduce my power rankings from last year. Here are the standings after 13 games: (By the way, does anyone know how to make things go to the next line without having to put a space between the lines? If I don't put a space,

Here's a question I've been grappling with a lot. Our league has the below 11 guys on max contracts (including LBJ who will see one this offseason). How many of them are worth more than their max contracts? How much are they REALLY worth? Deron

I see Westbrook above Aldridge but those reflections looks accurate. I feel Paul and Deron Williams are same level as Aldridge, maybe higher.

I think iverson is one of the more underrated dunkers ever. The dude was perhaps the freakiest athlete the NBA has ever seen, definitely inch for inch and possibly overall.

Now that the lockout appears to have ended and we've all but wrapped up FA, it's time for a season preview thread! I am going to stick with the tiered approach to my predictions that I used last season even though I think I'm the only one who likes

Given that the trade block doesn't currently tell us what kinds of players people are looking for, I figured it might be nice to have a thread listing what owners currently want. To make sure this thread stays useful and easy-to-read, a few requests

So I've been sitting here stunned watching some hugely inflated contracts get signed in XOT's free agency. Nobody else seems to be surprised at these prices, so maybe I'm just extremely tight-fisted, but I thought it might be fun to share some of

I agree with Devin. Many of these contracts make very little sense for a contending team, but a lot of sense for a rebuilding team with an abundance of cap space, especially when they are declining at 15% over 5 years. 1. Most of these teams...

I agree, I think voiding everyone's contracts (or the option to void them) just because there is a lockout doesn't make sense. It screws up the continuity of the entire thing. And I'm for moving contracts forward a year (even though I have ...

Hi all. I feel a little bad about showing up last night and having a laugh at the reactions to the trade I made. If I left the impression that I knowingly executed a lopsided trade, I want to make clear that I did not. It might well be true that

I think thus far you have executed a clear plan and executed it well. I think I would fail when trying to execute a plan like that because I'm not good enough at reading the tea leaves of the draft. But I definitely like what you have done thus fa...
