Contract restrictions
From XOPedia
Contracts have a length, starting salary and increase.
Increases can be positive or negative, and run from -15% to 15%. All contracts have a maximum length of 5 years. Starting salaries can run from $350,000 to $15M, but are subject to the following yearly minimums.
The minimum for each contract length are as follows (this means that the contract can never go below this amount in any year of the deal):
- 1 year: $350,000
- 2 years: $500,000
- 3 years: $1,500,000
- 4 years: $3,000,000
- 5 years: $5,000,000
So a 5/$1M/10% contract is not legal, nor is a 5/$5M/-10% contract. Contracts can go up to $18.5M but cannot go over that mark in any year of their deal. That means a 5/$15M/15% contract is not legal. As such the maximum contract a player can sign is a 5/$15M/5% deal.
A lot of rules, I know, but they all have reasons behind them. The main idea is that there are no players making decisions in XO, no agents to guide them, so we have to restrict what is possible to make sure that it remains realistic.
